Bill Eckholm is the chair of FSSA's Public Policy Committee. Bill is the President and CEO of Firetrace International based in Phoenix, AZ. He is a founder and past president of FSSA.
Gerry Connolly, FSSA President stated, "I am pleased that Bill Eckholm agreed to head up this very important committee for FSSA. With his leadership and expertise in the fire suppression industry, he clearly is an asset for FSSA."
The Committee has two major initiatives:
1. To develop a white paper that describes the growing issues associated with climate change, global warming and the connection to the fire suppression industry. The goal is to educate and inform the FSSA membership, customers and other interested parties. The committee's objective is to be unbiased and factual in its findings.
The committee has drafted the White Paper and it has been presented to the Board of Directors for its approval. Publication of the White Paper should be sometime next week.
2. To develop a strategy on how to deal with the state by state actions being taken to require fire protection systems to be installed by only those who have passed an accredited apprenticeship type training. A sub-committee is drafting an action plan that should be available in May.
