The NFPA 75 Technical Committee has proposed to substantially weaken the long-standing requirement for automatic fire suppression under raised floors of data centers. At the Jun. 16, 2016 NFPA Technical Meeting, the Fire Suppression Systems Association (FSSA) will move to retain the requirement for automatic fire suppression under raised floors of computer rooms in its existing form in NFPA 75. The FSSA believes that fire under a raised floor in a data center potentially exposes fire fighters to an unreasonable level of risk – risk that has been largely eliminated by providing automatic fire suppression under the raised floor.
Approximately seven years ago, the FSSA conducted a survey of FSSA installer members regarding clean agent fire suppression. The results of the survey have been extremely valuable in developing and maintaining proper guidelines for the use of clean agent systems.
The FSSA would like to update that survey to support our activity with NFPA as well as our overall leadership in promoting special hazards fire protection. The individual responses are confidential and no company information will be identified.
Please click here to take the survey. The FSSA needs your help in supporting good special hazards fire protection.
Please submit your responses by May 5, 2016.
