FSSA is excited to launch a new course in our online training program to help the industry comply with the new AIM Act technician training requirement. The EPA requires technicians working with fire suppression systems containing HFCs to complete a training by June 1, 2026 or 30 days after they are hired, whichever is later.

This is a three-module course intended to provide training required by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 40 CFR 84.110(d) for fire suppression technicians who install, service, repair, or dispose of fire suppression equipment containing HFCs. Student must complete all three modules in order to complete the course and receive a certificate of completion. (Average Completion Time: 1.25 hours)
- Module 1 - This class will cover the purpose of the required training and the reasons for minimizing emissions of HFCs, CFCs, and halons into the atmosphere.
- Module 2 - This class will cover pertinent regulations and the fire suppression technician’s role in compliance.
Module 3 - This class will cover instruction relevant to safety and avoiding unnecessary HFC emissions during the servicing, repair, disposal, or installation of fire suppression equipment.
