FSSA Hires New Techincal Director, Milosh Puchovsky

After a comprehensive search process conducted over six months, the FSSA Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Milosh Puchovsky as FSSA’s new Technical Director, effective June 1, 2026. Milosh brings more than 38 years of experience in fire protection engineering, currently serving as Professor of Practice, Associate Department Head, and Principal Industry Liaison within Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Department of Fire Protection Engineering.

Milosh Puchovksy, PE, FSFPE
Milosh is Professor of Practice, Associate Department Head and Principal Industry Liaison at Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Department of Fire Protection Engineering. Milosh possesses over 38 years’ experience applying and teaching fire hazard analysis, fire protection system design, and fire safety regulations. Milosh chairs and serves on numerous technical committees of the NFPA, SFPE, and Underwriters Laboratories. Milosh is former Secretary to NFPA’s Standards Council where he oversaw the development of all NFPA standards and is Past President and Fellow of SFPE. He led NFPA’s performance-based codes and standards initiative facilitating the greater application of engineering methods and computer fire models in fire safety practice. Milosh worked as an insurance risk engineer, and as an engineering consultant. Milosh is a licensed professional engineer, an editor and author of the Handbook of Fire Projection Engineering and holds degrees in mechanical and fire protection engineering.
