June 2026 HARC Newsletter

FSSA Members:

The Halon Alternatives Research Corporation (HARC) has released its June 2026 newsletter highlighting recent developments surrounding PFAS regulations and their potential impact on halogenated clean agents used in fire suppression.

PFAS (perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances) refers to a class of chemicals used across numerous industries, including aerospace, automotive, medical devices, military, electronics, and fire protection. Recent regulatory discussions have expanded PFAS definitions, which may include certain halogenated clean agents.

This newsletter provides updates on:

  • The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) PFAS restriction proposal
  • Maine and Minnesota PFAS laws
  • U.S. EPA reporting and recordkeeping requirements
  • HARC’s continued efforts to monitor regulatory activity and provide information on the importance of clean agents for protecting people and high-value assets from fire
