About the FSSA Educational Foundation

The FSSA Educational Foundation awards scholarships annually to talented and worthy individuals within the fire suppression industry.

How to Contribute

The FSSA Educational Foundation scholarship fund is supported by contributions from industry business groups and individuals. Contributions, which are 100% tax-deductible, can be accepted at any time and in any amount. Single contributions of $25,000 or more will be honored by an annual scholarship named after the contributor.

Who's Eligible to Apply

Any student or college bound individual affiliated with the fire protection industry is eligible to apply.

Scholarship candidates must have graduated from high school or its equivalent before June 1 of the year in which they will use the scholarship. Scholarships will only be awarded to students who will be participating in the fire protection programs at their universities. Students already enrolled in one of these colleges are also eligible to apply.

There are no restrictions based upon employment status or the sex, race, creed, or nationality of the candidate.

Previous winners are eligible for a second award.

Selection Process & Application

Academic success, interest, special abilities, financial need and other factors are considered by judges to select their choice of scholarship recipients. Judges are the FSSA Educational Foundation Board of Directors. To be considered for a scholarship, the applicant must complete and return the scholarship application following instructions below by June 1.

Step 1: Download the Scholarship Application

Step 2: Collect the following required attachments:

A transcript of grades and credits through the most recent grading period (high school applicants) or transcripts covering a minimum of the previous two scholastic years.
A letter of recommendation from a person employed by a firm in the fire suppression industry. This person should hold an executive or managerial position.
A letter of recommendation from a teacher, professor, or other education professional.

Step 3: Compile application and ALL required attachment into ONE PDF file and upload it below. Applications that are mailed, emailed, or submitted in separate pieces or different format will not be considered.

Applications are closed for the 2024-2025 year. Check back in January to apply for a 2025-2026 scholarship!
